When to use Usage Reports

Use Usage Reports when you need to:

  • review daily usage;
  • review monthly usage;
  • compare usage patterns;
  • investigate unexpected increases or decreases.

Daily Usage Report

The Daily Usage Report is the best starting point for a recent incident, a sudden traffic change, or day-by-day comparison. Use its report controls to choose the period and narrow the view to the relevant service or entity where available.

Add a screenshot of the Daily Usage Report tab.

Monthly Usage Report

The Monthly Usage Report groups activity at a higher level and is better for trends, capacity planning, and month-on-month comparisons. Switch to the daily report when you need to explain a particular spike or gap.

Add a screenshot of the Monthly Usage Report tab.

How to use the reports

  1. Open Reports.
  2. Select Usage Reports.
  3. Choose Daily Usage Report or Monthly Usage Report.
  4. Wait for the embedded report to finish loading.
  5. Apply the available date, service, and entity filters.
  6. Review chart labels, units, legends, and totals before drawing a conclusion.
  7. Use the report's export control if your role and the embedded report provide one.

Investigate an unexpected change

  1. Confirm the report tab, date period, timezone, service, and entity.
  2. Compare the affected period with the preceding equivalent period.
  3. Move from monthly to daily view to identify when the change started.
  4. Check Dashboard real-time data for a current issue and Audit Logs for recent configuration changes.
  5. Use the same scope in billing reports if you need to understand the financial effect.

Do not compare totals with different filters or aggregation levels. A daily sum and monthly total may also differ while data for the current day or month is still arriving.
